Pictures In A Row Signs Director Andrew French

Director Andrew French.
Pictures in a Row, the L.A. based production company, has signed comedy director Andrew French. He began his career, like many other award-winning directors, in the MTV promo department. From there he went to work at Comedy Central writing for comedians Bill Maher, Dave Atell, Jim Gaffigan and Penn and Teller. He began his commercial directing career as one half of the directing duo Spooner-French, then branched out on his own in 2006. He was most recently represented by Oil Factory.

What attracted French to Pictures in a Row? “They take a professional, almost scholarly approach to filmmaking, imagery and storytelling,” the director says.  “I thought my brand of humor would fit nicely there. I had long been an admirer of Peter Lang’s powerful and honest work as a director, and DQ (Picrow Executive Producer David Quartararo) and I are both from New York, so we speak the same language”.

Says Quartararo, “Andy has an incredible awareness of comedy and a great eye for talent. It’s the subtle ‘moments’ within his work that we connected with, and that we believe separates him from the pack.”

French adds, “On my first visit to Pictures in a Row I noticed that all the walls, offices and conference rooms were lined with beautiful floor-to-ceiling shelves. On these shelves, in row after row, were thousands of things I had never seen in a production
company before—books.”

As a director, French has worked for such clients as Bud Light, Dominos, Dodge, ESPN, Hyundai, IDT, New York Lotto, the Colorado Lottery, Subway and Vegas.com. He recently completed an ATT campaign for Picrow out of DDB/Chicago for their new “Stretch” feature that translates voicemail into text messages.

French joins a Pictures in a Row roster of Director/Owner Peter Lang, Jason House, Misko Iho and Keva Rosenfeld. The company is repped in the US by Andrew Halpern on the West Coast and Texas, Tracy Bernard & Associates in the Midwest and Ann McKallagat in the East.
